Thankful: Day 3
I am immensely thankful for this guy:

My husband by law, my partner in spirit, my best friend, my baby’s daddy and all that fun stuff. We have gone through quite a lot in the past eight years… Wait, is it eight or nine? I believe it’s eight but time starts doing this weird thing after a while. We started dating the first day we “hung out”. I still think he rocks. He inspires me and makes me laugh. He’s an amazing guy, a fabulous father, and sort of rocks at professoring. Oh yeah, he makes some cool ass art too. The kind that makes you question, makes you wonder, inspires stories and/or magic in your mind. When he has time. Oh, and just a little random tid bit: he has super long arms. Like, abnormally so but in a cool way. Wide wingspan. Long arm of the law. Alab….

{this moment}
{this moment} – A Friday ritual. A single photo – no words – capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.

Changing the lens of photography?
So, here’s the deal. We don’t have extra spending money. That’s what happens when one in a couple gives up their 9-5 to stay home. So, yes, I need more freelance work (need a website? check out my portfolio and contact me!). I’m working on that. But, if we did have extra spending money I would be spending $499 on this:
And, of course, to rub salt in the poor girl’s wounds, I had to get a special invite to purchase it before they become available to the public. Yay.
But, check out the Lytro website and read more about this amazing new camera! Just a few of the cool features:
- Focus after the fact. Everything.
- Depth of field after the fact. On a whim. Changeable.
- No flash necessary.
On day. For now, I’ll daydream about all of the cool photos I can take with it.

A space of my own
I’m not sure why it’s taken me so long to finally really set up my space. Perhaps it’s the fact that I just got my hands on a shelf that I could store supplies on or maybe it’s that I’ve had enough of NOT having my own space or maybe it’s just that the summer is ending and that means Dave is returning to work and my time to get things done is about to do a large decrease. Staying at home with a toddler definitely doesn’t mean lots of time to get things done, to work, to create. At least not in that solitary way that I was used to. Sure, we get things done, but it’s a bit different.
Without further ado, my space. Ahh. Sigh of relief. It’s a very relaxing spot (even moreso when the dehumidifier is off), it has tons of light, and I am sitting beside the outdoors which I love.
I love this space. I love this light. I love the fact that this is only a little nook down in our basement and that Dave’s “nook” is on the opposite side of this half of the room and that there is a gigantic play space for Indira. The downside? Hopefully, we’ll be moving in 5-10 months. So this will be a short-lived space. Unfortunately, even a beautiful house can’t make up for an inadequate town and the woods outside can’t make up for the fact that the woods are set in rocks (as opposed to soft soil). But this works for now.

mom’s gonna snap
Quick post because I really need to get to work. I want to get these designs emailed over sometime tomorrow or Wednesday the latest.
But I came across this on instagram and I think I might have to have it! Oh, and random thought – I’m posting all of my instagram photos here now (as well as flickr). I’ve had that tumblog for a while but I rarely use it. Now it will actually get some use.
It’s from clickinmoms.com and I absolutely dig it.

Lately
Things have grown.
We found a new playground. It rocks!
Lots and lots of berries have been eaten
Dave had an amazing piece in a show at Aljira Center for Contemporary Art in Newark (check it)
We chased Indi a lot.
Indi got her first black eye. Yes, she was with me, not daddy. Not fair.
We went to a music festival.
We didn’t hear much music, but Dave got a 10 minute massage. This is Indi waiting.
We’ve made a lot of lists (we love our chalkboard door). *Random – Saran Wrap is the last of those wrapping items left in our house – we’ve given up foil and ziplocs and all that other stuff. I think it’s time to give up Saran Wrap too. Oh, and it’s just plastic wrap, huh?
There’s been other things going on… like reading….
…and napping…
…and hiking…
…and rabbit holes…
…and fire men coming to our house at 1:30 am for our hardwired cobwebbed smoke detectors than went off.
Other than that, loving each other. And, me? I’m just waiting for the dog days of summer to kick in.
So are they?
